Frank Quarles 1866-1881 |
| The
Rev. Frank Quarles, who was called to the pastorate when
the group left First Baptist, served from 1866 to 1881. He set the
congregation on sound footing, increasing its membership from 25
to 1500. He was instrumental in bringing the Augusta Institute,
Morehouse College to Atlanta and in the founding of Spelman
College. In the late 1860's a railway freight car was sent to the
Friendship congregation and printed music was sent from the Ninth
Street Baptist Church in Cincinnati. Ohio.
